Open Social session at Brussels International Association Forum 2022

Congratulations to ASSOCIATIONWORLD and all fellow partners on a successful first edition of the Brussels International Association Forum (BIAF) on the 14th and 15th of March.

Exploring the Future of Association Communities

BIAF is one of the world’s flagship events for professional associations and non-profit organizations. It gathered representatives from international and European associations, non-profit organizations, federations and societies. BIAF aims to become the leading international platform for community building and knowledge sharing.

We believe collaboration and partnerships are key to exploring the future of association communities together. Now, more than ever, the association-, tech-, and events industry will need collaboration to succeed. This is one of the main reasons Open Social partnered up with ASSOCIATIONWORLD. We appreciate the community spirit created at BIAF and GIAF and enjoyed facilitating a workshop on the association engagement model of the future.

The Association Engagement Model of the Future

Brussels International Association Forum

During the event, Open Social’s Community Evangelist and Strategy Consultant Mathijs Vleeming and Community Engagement Specialist Maurik Gashi contributed to a session titled “The Association Engagement Model of the Future: Community-Led and Always-On”.

In our workshop, we discussed that associations are community builders, not just event organizers. That events are a means towards your purpose, not the end goal. The biggest value you can provide as an association is your ability to connect your members. There is no offline vs online – They are complementary. I strongly believe that now is the time for associations to go back to their core and think community first!

We will publish a publication on online communities for associations soon – watch this space…
